Your Guide to the Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Journey

Ketamine- Assisted Psychotherapy FAQs

What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)?
KAP is a therapeutic modality that combines ketamine with psychotherapy to support deeper emotional healing, insight, and nervous system regulation. Ketamine helps create an expanded, flexible mental state, while therapy provides structure, safety, and integration so the experience leads to meaningful and lasting change.

Is KAP safe?
Yes. KAP is a clinically supported and evidence-based approach when provided in partnership with a licensed medical prescriber and a trained therapist.
All clients complete:

  • Medical screening and clearance by a prescriber
  • Mental health assessment
  • Preparation sessions
  • Ongoing therapeutic support and integration

Your safety, consent, and readiness guide the process at every step.

Do you prescribe ketamine?
No. GLO Within Services does not prescribe medication.
We collaborate with Journey Clinical who handle:

  • Medical intake
  • Prescription
  • Monitoring

If you need a prescriber referral, we will support you through that process.

Medication and prescriber appointments are separate costs.

What does a standard KAP session look like?
Each KAP experience includes:

  1. Preparation Sessions
Intention setting, education, and emotional readiness
  2. Dosing Sessions
Client self-administers ketamine (typically via lozenge)
Therapist present for safety and support
May include music, eye shades, and inward reflection
    Sessions last 2–3 hours
  3. Integration Sessions
    Occur within 24–72 hours
Help process insights and ground them into daily life

What is your hourly rate?
All KAP sessions (preparation, dosing, and integration) are billed at: $200 per hour*

Dosing sessions usually last:

  • 2 to 3 hours

Total cost: $400–$600 per dosing session

Can insurance be used for KAP?
Yes, partially. GLO Within Services will bill 1 hour of the dosing session to insurance to cover the psychotherapy portion, if you are in-network and your plan allows.

Insurance may cover:

  • Preparation sessions
  • Integration sessions
  • One hour of talk therapy during dosing sessions

Ketamine medication and prescriber services are not covered by therapy insurance and are paid separately.

What is the estimated total cost for one KAP course?
For a standard 6–8 dosing session protocol, including preparation and integration:

Estimated total: Approximately $3,488

FAQ

I currently accept Aetna, United Healthcare, Oxford, Oscar, Cigna, Aetna Medicare Advantage, Humana Medicare Advantage, United Healthcare Medicare Advantage, Quest Behavioral Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield NY through Headway. Outside of Headway, I am in-network provider with Fidelis, Healthfirst, Carelon, MetroPlus, CDPHP, Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare and 1199 SEIU.

For all other insurances in New York, I am an out-of-network provider.

In-network means we are participating providers in certain insurance plans.

For example, if you want to work with me, I am in network with these plans (Aetna, Cigna United Healthcare, Oxford, Oscar, and BCBS). But if you have MVP Insurance, for instance, I am considered an out-of-network provider to you, since I have no partnership with that insurance plan.

Whether you have an in-network insurance or out-of-network benefits you’d like to redeem, I'll help you understand what it all means.

A superbill is a document that includes information about our sessions to send to your out-of-network insurance provider for reimbursement at the end of each month. From there, your insurance directly send you a reimbursement for the amount your insurance covers. I do not provide superbills because I use Thrizer.

Thrizer is a third-party billing platform that makes it easier for you to access and submit claims for out-of-network benefits.

If you choose to use Thrizer, after each session, we’ll inform Thrizer that we met for our session. Thrizer will then submit the claim for our session directly to your insurance carrier for out-of-network reimbursement. After the claim processes, they will provide a 50-80% reimbursement directly to your bank account once you’ve met your deductible.

Yes. I understand that certain events may come up unexpectedly. However, this time is reserved for you and hard to fill last-minute without notice. If you do not cancel your session within 24 hours there will be a $90 cancellation/no-show fee.
